Health Aspects of Japan Food

  • Vegetables and legumes are the main ingredients of many of the traditional Japanese dishes. Moreover, salt or shio, and oil are used in a minimal to no quantity. Therefore, the authentically made Japanese recipes are loaded with nutrients like fibre, mineral, and vitamins and lower in calories.
  • Sushi, Sashimi and many other traditional Japanese meals include seafood like fish and nori (seaweed). Fish includes good fats like omega 3 fatty acids which are beneficial for the heart, brain and immune system of your body. Moreover, every traditional Japanese recipe made with fish or other seafood has a lesser amount of calories, unlike meat.
  • Many of the Japanese cuisines make use of fermented soybean paste or miso as the main ingredient. Everyone is well aware of the fact that fermented products can enhance the functioning of the liver and digestive system. And when your digestive system works smoothly, your immunity is also boosted and you do not fall ill frequently. Miso soup is one of the most favourite Japanese recipes made using the miso paste. Often prepared in a very simple manner, onions, tofu pieces, scallions, and daikon can also be added to it to enhance its flavour.
  • Noodles of different kinds are also included in a traditional Japanese food. Most of them are made of wheat flour or buckwheat and are hence rich in fibre. Ramen and udon noodles are considered to be healthiest of all various types. Both of these are made of wheat flour. Ramen noodles are served in a fish-based broth and seasoned with menma or bamboo shoot, moyashi or bean sprouts, seaweed, and corn, making the entire dish healthy. Udon noodles are served in tsuyu broth and are topped with slices of green onions. These have a soft texture and quite easy to digest.
